4 Ways To Use Carousels To Boost Engagement On Instagram

How often do you post Carousels? If you’re not creating them & posting them consistently, friend, you are missing out on some serious engagement on Instagram.

Carousels are one type of content that you need to be making if you want incredible engagement on your Instagram. 

And if you’re wondering…are Carousels really better to upload vs a traditional single-photo post?  

The answer is…YES!!!

They’ve been proven to be one of the best types of content if you are trying to reach new people and boost engagement. According to Hootsuite, “Instagram carousel posts get, on average, 1.4x more reach and 3.1x more engagement than regular posts on Instagram.” Which is amazing! 

They help get the algorithm on your side for a few reasons—so let me tell you why:

👉  Carousels Help Keep People On Your Page Longer

They have to swipe through multiple slides & it takes way more time than if they were looking at a single post.

The longer people stay on your page, the more Instagram recognizes that your content is valuable. It’s clearly keeping people’s attention, so IG is more likely to push it out to a broader audience.


👉  Carousels Let You Educate Your Audience 

Carousels are such a powerful type of content because they are perfect for sharing tutorials, how-to’s, lists, & other educational posts with your audience. You can use them when you want to get your audience to view you as an authority in your niche & someone they definitely want to engage with.

I’m sharing 4 tips you can use to create Carousels that will help boost your engagement:


#1 Use All 10 Slides

The more time people spend on your Carousels, the better! Use 8-10 slides every single time you post to keep them on your post for as long as possible. You’ll be able to share SO much valuable info with your followers and you can take advantage of the algorithm when you do.


#2 Focus On Your Cover Graphic

You need a cover image that will hook your audience and get them interested in swiping through your Carousel! I make all of mine in Canva—it’s super easy to use and they even have tons of free templates you can use to get started. Your cover graphic should include your brand fonts and colors and should get people excited about the valuable information they are going to find inside.


#3 Your Caption Should Keep People Swiping

Do not give away everything that is inside your Carousel in your caption! So many people make this mistake! If you are telling everyone your tips in the caption, they don’t have a reason to swipe through your Carousel and that signals to the algorithm that your slides weren’t very valuable. Instead, tease whatever you’re teaching in your Carousels with your captions and use them to encourage people to scroll or swipe for all the details! 


#4 Use a Call to Action

On your last slide, make sure you include a call to action. This will help boost engagement because you are asking people to comment, like, or share your post & it’s the best way to get people to engage with what you’ve posted.

You should be taking advantage of Carousels if you want to serve your audience & you want to get amazing engagement.
