3 Ways to Double Your Instagram Engagement

Hey friend, are you wishing you could get better engagement on your posts? Do you wish there were tons of conversation & questions in your comment section? Do you wish you were able to reeeeeally connect with your followers & to create content that they want to engage with? Well, in this week’s newsletter, I am sharing 3 ways to double your engagement because I know how frustrating it can be to spend tons of time creating content and then get little to no engagement on your posts! Keep reading for my favorite Instagram engagement tips.

#1 Utilize ALL of Instagram’s Features

If you want to get on the Instagram algorithm’s good side and get a boost that will help you get SO much more engagement on your posts, you need to be taking full advantage of all the features on Instagram.

Post Reels Consistently

Making Reels is the #1 way to grow on IG and consistently posting them is a great way to double your engagement. But, it’s also important to use all the filters, stickers, and in-app features when you’re creating your Reels, as well. Instagram wants you to take advantage of all the tools they have created with you, so they are more likely to show your posts to new people when you use all the features.

Create Carousels, Too!

You should also be posting ALL different types of content on Instagram. Reels are the best type of content to post if you want to grow, but Carousels are also incredible for boosting engagement. That’s because your followers have to scroll through and stay on your post for a long time to read or watch the entire post. The amount of time someone spends on a post is something Instagram takes into consideration when measuring engagement, which means that Carousels are a great type of content to create if you want your followers to engage with you more!

Stories Are Important For Engagement, As Well

Stories also help you build genuine connections with your audience that lead to an increase in engagement. They let you talk DIRECTLY to your people and they also allow your followers to interact with your Stories in real-time. They can reply to polls, respond to questions, send you DMs, and more—all within your Stories!

You should be using ALL of these types of content in your Instagram strategy so that you get the best engagement for your account.

#2 Create Content That Is Engaging

If you want people to be engaging with your content, your content needs to be engaging! If you’re thinking, ‘Sarah, that sounds pretty obvious,’ the tricky thing can be figuring out what type of content the people in your niche find engaging!

When I am creating content, I try to always add value for my followers and you should, too! When you add value, your followers will engage with you and you’ll be able to create content they really connect with. Here are the 3 types of content you should be creating to add value for your followers & to help you boost engagement:

Educate Your Audience

Use your Instagram to teach your followers something new. It adds SO much value for them if they can learn something that will benefit them or their business from your posts. And, it will get them excited about commenting, asking questions, saving, sharing, and engaging with your posts! Teach a hack you love to use, share a lesson you’ve learned or teach them something from your mistakes. There are SO many things you can teach your audience and they will be so grateful and engaged when you start posting educational content.

Inspire Your Audience

If you want your audience to engage with your posts, make sure they are inspiring. Show a before & after or a transformation that will encourage the people following you to transform something in their lives, too. Tell them to ask about the transformation in the comments and to DM you for more information to boost engagement even more.

Entertain Your Audience

Make your followers laugh, keep them entertained and take advantage of trends in your post if you want more engagement. Using popular songs & sounds and entertaining transitions is a great way to get people to laugh with you and add their reactions or questions to your comment section.

#3 Keep the Conversation Going

When someone asks a question in your comments, keep the conversation going! Ask questions back and continue talking to the people who are engaging with your posts. The same is true with DMs. Instead of just answering your follower, ask what else they are curious about and what they are struggling with. It’s a great way to boost engagement—and for you to get to know your followers a little bit better which will help you create future content that they are going to want to engage with, as well.

Also, find some larger accounts that are in your niche or that are run by people you look up to and add questions to their comment section. This will help you connect with their audience and turn their followers into your followers. Social media is all about being social, so it’s also important for you to be interacting with other people on the app and supporting their posts with your comments, too!
