The Do’s & Don’ts Of Creating Instagram Reels

When you’re creating Instagram Reels, it can be tough to remember all the little details–all the things that will make the Instagram Reels algorithm happy & all the things that your audience wants to see, as well as the things you should avoid doing when you’re creating content. To help you remember all the Do’s and Don’ts of making Reels, I put together a list for you with some things you should make sure you remember.

#1 DO Use Clear Captioning

Get your message across with clear captioning. It’s important because it lets your audience know why they need to stop scrolling & watch your Reel.

#2 DO Use trending audio

Take advantage of already popular trends by using them in your Reels. Music is a great way to draw your audience in & get them excited about your content.

#3 DO Showcase Your Unique Personality

Your audience follows you, so show off that personality! Bring your unique perspective to every Reel you create to connect with your followers.

#4 DO Use Quick Transitions

Keep things moving in your IG Reels! Short, exciting transitions are far more likely to perform well because your viewers want content that’s easy to digest.

#5 DO Use A Call to Action

At the end of your Reels & your caption, you should always use a call to action! This lets your audience know what you want them to do next, so they know they should keep reading, click your link, share or save your Reel!

#1 DON’T Make your captions appear too quickly

People can’t read as fast as you may think! Save your Reel & watch it from your camera roll – see if you are able to keep up with reading the captions before you post!

#2 DON’T Post Your reels with a watermark

Using another app to record your Reel may be helpful – but avoid posting your Reel to Instagram with a watermark from another app! The algorithm will not favor your Reel if it has a watermark

#3 DON’T Forget a cover image!

Posting your Reels with a cover photo or graphic will make it easier for people to understand what your Reel is about when they visit your profile. They are more likely to stick around if you capture their attention!

#4 DON’T Leave out the caption

If you are not using any captions in your Reels people will be more likely to scroll past your Reel because they do not have their sound on!

#5 DON’T forget about quality

Your Reels need to be high quality or your audience won’t want to watch them! Use bright, natural lighting & shoot with a high-resolution camera to create content that your audience will enjoy.
